Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Counseling Services
Who is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for?
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is helpful for individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance-related disorders, end-of-life distress, identity, and other life challenges or who are seeking self-actualization and personal growth. This type of therapy is especially helpful for individuals who have not found relief through traditional talk therapy or medication alone. Facilitated by therapists or other trained providers, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy involves the administration of ketamine to facilitate a deep, introspective state that allows individuals to explore and process feeling states with new perspectives in a safe and supportive environment for improved wellbeing.
Phases of KAP
Consultation, Preparation, Journey, Integration
Phases of ketamine treatment include consultation, preparation, journey, and integration.
Consultation phase – During the consultation phase of ketamine therapy, the client meets with one of our trained clinicians to establish suitability for ketamine treatment. Once established, the client is then connected with the appropriate clinician and with our medical director for a medical evaluation.
Preparation – The preparation session is to educate the client about the journey session, to set individual goals and intentions for the treatment, and to establish parameters so the client feels safe and supported during the journey session.
Journey– During this session the client is provided with ketamine. A clinician sits with the client to provide support, guidance, and a safe and comfortable environment. The therapist will monitor both the client’s physical and emotional state, provide reassurance when needed, and help the client navigate any challenging emotions or experiences that may arise. Additionally, the clinician will document any of the clients’ behaviors, statements and revelations significant for the integration process. Clients are encouraged to journal about their experience and insights after the journey.
Integration – During the integration session, the client and clinician process the KAP experience to help the client integrate insights gained during the experience into their daily lives.
The above phases are individualized in terms of number and frequency. Some clients require multiple preparation sessions before a KAP journey. The majority of clients benefit from multiple integration sessions between KAP journeys. Clients and their clinicians collaborate for the idealized treatment plan.
At Psychedelica Collective, we are proud to provide high quality KAP therapy delivered with safe and effective clinical standards. All clients complete a comprehensive consultation, including medical clearance by a physician, and proper therapeutic preparation prior to being guided through profound healing by a licensed therapist or supervised clinician trained in psychedelic assisted therapy. Clients are never left alone during a KAP session. Blood pressure, heart rate and oxygenation are monitored. Clients are not permitted to drive after their journey.

Benefits of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Rapid Relief: Ketamine has been shown to provide rapid relief for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Unlike traditional antidepressants, which can take weeks or even months to take effect, ketamine can start working within hours or days.
Enhanced Effectiveness: Ketamine-assisted therapy can enhance the effectiveness of talk therapy by helping individuals access deeper levels of self-awareness and introspection. This can lead to more profound insights, greater emotional healing, and long-lasting positive changes.
Safe and Well-Tolerated: Ketamine is generally considered safe and well-tolerated when administered in a controlled setting under the supervision of a trained healthcare provider. It has a low risk of addiction and abuse, making it a suitable option for individuals with a history of substance abuse.
Improved Quality of Life: Ketamine-assisted therapy can improve the quality of life for individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health challenges. It can help reduce symptoms, improve mood, and enhance overall well-being, allowing individuals to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
End-of-Life Distress: Ketamine-assisted therapy has also shown promise in helping individuals experiencing end-of-life distress find comfort, meaning, and peace in their final days. It can help alleviate anxiety, depression, and existential distress, allowing individuals to connect more deeply with loved ones and find acceptance in the face of death.
